The theme for our last meeting was Hope, not only the message for the season of Christmas but also a poignant and pertinent mindset for all in the battle against Covid - 19 pandemic.
The night's speeches were delivered by Monica Tiffany, SR 4, on Dungeons and Dragons through her keynote speech, "Fantasy World on Your Table". L C Tang, EC 5, delivered a speech titled "Humour in Mispronunciation" on her attempt on the second Pathway course, Engaging Humour. The evaluations of the speeches by Elaine and Andri were enriching to the speakers.
Winner of the Table topic, Tan Boon Lan, ACS, shared a heart-warming account of one of
her most cherished gifts, a bicycle. It was never abandoned and went with her even during her overseas stays, and even when it eventually rusted. The forced parting happened years later, when it fell victim to theft.
Not the least, the occasion was graced by Matthew Leung, ACB/ALB, who sang and played on the piano, “White Christmas”. We were swung into a romantic mood and nearly sweet dreams too. Every toastmaster meeting never fails to give opportunities of learning. Our December meeting was one such meeting.
